A handful of global investors believe that space travel is the next big thing. Orbital Technologies, a Russian company, recently announced that it is planning to build a four-room hotel that could be launched into space by 2016.
"The tourist hub will not resemble the International Space Station: it will be comfortable inside, and tourists will view the Earth through large portholes. The hub will be designed to accommodate seven people," said Sergei Kostenko, CEO of Orbital Technologies.
The hotel will tailor food to suit customer preferences and may even have food prepared by celebrity chefs. Guests will be ferried to the hotel on a Soyuz shuttle, similar to the one used to transport cosmonauts to the International Space Station.
