Mastretta’s MXT two-seater sports car, which debuted at the Paris Motor Show last week, will start selling in the UK in early 2011. The Mexican sports car maker said that this production ready car is regarded to be Mexico's answer to the Lotus Elise. The MXT is priced between £31,000 and £38,000. The MXT is produced by the automotive division of Mexican design and engineering firm Tecnoidea. The first prototype of this model was shown during the 2008 British motor show.
It was supposed to start production in 2009, but it was postponed because of the recession. Changes made to the production car include refined exterior styling, an updated interior featuring high end materials and an all-new powertrain. Mastretta fine-tuned the suspension and revised the exhaust system and aerodynamics.
Powering the car is a Duratec 2.0-litre turbocharged engine which is mid-mounted, delivers 247bhp and is partnered to a five-speed manual gearbox. The MXT is able to sprint from 0-62mph in 4.9 seconds and boasts a top speed of 144mph.
